I'd rather download all of the drivers from Acer website. Is it okay to use W10 drivers supported for other models as you have suggested? Has you personally tried this? I really want to take your advice and try installing Windows 10 again, but only if my laptops performance is going to be = to current level on 8.1.

Before you begin

Driver updates for Windows 10, along with many devices, such as network adapters, monitors, printers, and video cards, are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. You probably already have the most recent drivers, but if you'd like to manually update or reinstall a driver, here's how:

Update the device driver

  1. I just upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) to Windows 7, SP1, 64-bit. When my desktop booted up in Normal Mode, after the 'Starting Windows' screen appeared, the monitor screen then went black. I manually shut down the desktop and then booted up again, but this time in Safe Mode'. Everything proceeded normally and the desktop screen eventually appeared.
  2. Download and install Acer Drivers. If you are having problems with an Acer PC or another Acer device, the problem could be with your Acer Drivers. This often happens when users upgrade to a new Operating System and fail to update their Drivers so the Acer Drivers may be out of date or may have become corrupt over time.

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.

  2. Select a category to see names of devices, then right-click (or press and hold) the one you’d like to update.

  3. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

  4. Select Update Driver.

  5. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

Reinstall the device driver

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Manager.

  2. Right-click (or press and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall.

  3. Restart your PC.

  4. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
